Statement
I’m fascinated by the science of light, by how reflection and refraction can conjure the illusion of space. We tend to think of tricking the eye as deception, but choosing to believe an illusion can open new ways of seeing the world, and ourselves. My love of collage and film gradually led me to building these “sets,” constructing each one from the thoughts, impressions, and visions of my inner world. Every piece carries its own story, and in my experience dream-like imagery creates confusion, challenges the status quo and is a powerful communicator of subconscious messages. These mind-bending tapestries are my way of offering to my viewers a sense of surprise and, perhaps, a momentary suspension of the self.
